About Kohm & Spychalla, LLC

Our History

Kohm & Spychalla, LLC is a fourth generation potato farm. The Spychalla family immigrated from Pozan, Poland and began farming on the Antigo Silt Loam in 1913. Over the generations, trees were cleared and rocks were picked. Horses and hand labor eventually made way for tractors, self-propelled machinery, ag-chemistry, computers and laboratories. In 1993, Bärbel Köhm, a potato virologist, immigrated from Unterjesingen, Germany and married James Spychalla, joining the farm’s potato operations. Today, minitubers and FY1 foundation seed potatoes are now produced.
